Time Wise® Unique Simulations for Lean Training

Experiential simulations quickly bridge the gap between theory and practice. Experts agree that experiential simulation training provides the highest degree of learning and content retention.

Time Wise offers unique simulations developed specifically for various industries and markets. The simulations are designed to empower staff with the fundamental concepts of Lean. Time Wise® simulations engage employees and unleash their creativity to apply Lean to their own work environment and processes. In these simulations, employees quickly acquire and apply the skills they need to achieve bottom-line results. Simulations can also be customized to your organization to enhance employee ownership and relationship to the principles learned.

How Time Wise Simulations work
Each simulation is an accelerated one-day workshop designed to empower participants with an understanding of Lean concepts through a series of interactive presentations and team-based simulation activities by Time Wise facilitators. The concepts are then applied in a live simulation that reflects a realistic work environment. This hands-on format delivers key “ah ha!” insights that are difficult to acquire through traditional learning methods.

Participants begin each simulation role-playing within an environment representing many of the problems of their current facility– operational and supply issues, travel time, work flow, unnecessary or redundant process steps and administrative “paperwork” issues. Following completion of each exercise, metrics capture and analysis, new scenarios are introduced and participants are challenged to improve them by employing Lean methods. Teams implement improvements themselves, developing their team-building and problem-solving skills.

As the multiple simulation rounds progress, enhanced by additional training on Lean concepts, participants achieve measurable, order-of-magnitude improvements and identify how the concepts relate to their own jobs and their operation as a whole.

Time Wise also provides its clients the ability to license the simulations and tailor and brand them for the specific end user.

Time Wise training can on occur on-site at a client’s facility or at the Time Wise Institute in Florida.

Benefits
At the conclusion of a Time Wise Simulation, managers and employees will:

   •  Understand and relate to the fundamental concepts of Lean.
   •  Be receptive to Lean changes from management to improve their organization.
   •  Acquire and apply the skills needed to improve bottom line results.
   •  Comprehend the business case for enterprise-wide improvement as a way to profitably meet rising expectations in a competitive and challenging market.
   •  Recognize how Lean methods can simultaneously reduce time and operational costs while improving service and quality.

Through a progression of simulation rounds, participants in these simulations learn how to achieve measured improvements in:

• Improve patient safety and satisfaction • Improve Staff Morale
• Improve quality of care • Reduce operational expenses
• Lower costs • Increase productivity
• Serve more patients with existing staff • Provide more efficient use of space

Why Time Wise?
Management today faces ever-increasing challenges and knows that continuous improvement is key to meeting these challenges. The status quo will not work tomorrow. Employees need to understand and endorse the drivers for change within their work environment in order for any improvement to be successful and sustainable.

Time Wise simulations have been benchmarked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to determine the efficacy of simulation training compared to other modes of training for learning retention. Tests were applied that validated a greater than 90% retention rate via a Time Wise simulation. Other modes of training scored in the 30% or less range.

The Time Wise simulations are unique and they are more than just a course in Lean. They change managers’ and employees’ mindsets as they face each day, prepare them for continuous improvement and help them identify the changes they can make in their workplace themselves to facilitate that improvement.
